What is water-soluble phenolic resin?
Our water-soluble phenolic resin is an anionic resin obtained by copolymerizing DHDPS (dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone) and a sulfonic acid compound such as phenolsulfonic acid.
Utilizing the strong electron-withdrawing properties and chemical stability of DHDPS's sulfonyl bonds, the high acidity of its hydroxyl groups, and its hydrogen bond strength, it is expected to be used in many applications.
We mass produce water-soluble phenol resin (product name: WSR-SP82), which is a copolymerization of DHDPS and phenolsulfonic acid at a ratio of 8:2.
Application examples
① Nylon fix agent
By using the ionic bond strength between the terminal amino group of the nylon fiber and the sulfonic acid group of the water-soluble phenol resin, and the hydrogen bond strength between the azo group of the acidic dye and the hydroxyl group of the water-soluble phenol resin, It is used.

② Cationic binder
By optimizing the molar ratio and molecular weight of DHDPS and sulfonic acid compounds,
we have found that it has high adhesion to substrates that do not have bonds such as
polyester and cellulose.
In addition to the hydrogen bond strength between the DHDPS hydroxyl group and the carbonyl
group or hydroxyl group of the base material, cross-linking (thermosetting) using a methylol
group at the end of the resol-type water-soluble phenolic resin shows high robustness.

Processing method
After dyeing nylon fiber with acid dye, acid dye is fixed with phenol resin.
