Features of SR Series

The SR Series products are silicon oligomers that show quite excellent compatibility with a lot of organic solvents. We offer the products in the powder state, flake state, or in the state where the product is dissolved in various solvents as required by customers. Since the reactive end groups (hydroxyl group or alkoxyl group) remain, dehydration condensation and dealcoholization condensation can easily be achieved by applying heat treatment, thereby forming a thin film.

Curing temperatures depend on the types of organic functional groups and end groups. For example, if the organic functional group is the polyphenylsilsesquioxane (PPSQ) of a phenyl group, it can be known from the measurement data in the figure on the left, where the temperature of the grade SR-21 whose end group is silanol is approx. 200℃, and for SR-23 whose end group is an ethoxy group, weight reduction as a result of condensation is seen at approx. 150℃. The data show that activities of the end groups are different. Furthermore, complete curing of SR-21 or SR-21 shows the same heat resistance as SR-20, and it is possible to form high heat-resistant film that is stable up to about 450℃ (the phenyl group is desorbed at temperatures of 450℃ or higher).
